Super Saturday

Wow! What a super Saturday! I went to the post office and had a package from my Secret Pal waiting for me! How majorly cool! Look at this great haul:

The front of the picture is a gorgeous heart frame which I can use to put Matthew's picture in after he's born. What a thoughtful SP! There is a fun sheep tape measure and a beautifully scented sachet that says "REFRESH" on it and trust me, it does! I love it! The yarn is so yummy! So you can see the yarn up close, let me post another picture:

The yarn in the middle is local to my SP. It is colored by hand (color is Old Rose) and is 50/50 Wool/Mohair. It's from Shadyside Farm Studio (shadysidefarmstudio.com) and it is soft and gorgeous! The beautiful yarn on the left and right of the Wool/Mohair is hand dyed alpaca from Chile! WOW!

I am really, really lucky! My secret pal is thoughtful, caring, and I am convinced that the "S" in "SP" isn't really "secret" but "special" because she really IS very special.

MY SATURDAY HAS BEEN SUPER!!! THANK YOU SECRET PAL!!

Smart Moves

OK, in my "normal" blog (yeah, yeah, I know... I'm a mutant... NOTHING is "normal" with me!) I posted up some things that I am proud of and feel guilty about so I figured I'd do something similar. Here, however, are what I consider to be my 5 smartest moves where crafting is concerned. There is no particular order to this list, btw.

1. I purchased a digital camera for other reasons but for which I now almost exclusively use for taking pictures of things I make.

2. I joined The Knitting Circle and gained a deeper and better friendship with 3 women I already knew and made 2 new wonderful friends. OK... wait... 3. I have to count Roni's sister Teri. She's a great lady!

3. I have expanded my knowledge of knitting and found out I could make things like purses and felted bowls. Still can't make Roadkill, though. I have put that away forever I am afraid.

4. I joined SP8. I've been having fun and making new friends!

5. I am making useable, pretty, fun, sometimes practical items while keeping my arthritis at bay.

I may be a mutant but I'm smart! :)

A Knitter's Weekend

I know I said I would post a picture of the striped bowl with one row one color and the next another and back and forth. The truth is it is too darn hot to haul out the camera and take a picture. The colors blended and you can see it's striped but I am not happy enough with it to do more than have it on the kitchen table. No picture.

If you've looked at the weather lately you'll know we're under a horrible heat wave. Finally I had to do something about it. I went to a hotel for Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night. I came home to the hotbox today. :)

I took a lot of projects with me but found sleep and just doing nothing was more appealing. I did get one small felted bowl knit and another almost done. I just about finished a doily I am crocheting and trying to decide if I have the heart to give it away for a present. I am afraid I won't get anything much done from now on until September because it's just too darn hot. The only cool place I go where I could knit would be at work but when I'm in my office, even at lunch, there are lots of people going in and out since my office seems to be the pass through (I don't want to talk about the design. It's awful!) Add into the fact all the files are in my office and knitting in there for an hour at lunch is just NOT going to happen. I can't concentrate. So it looks like unless I go somewhere cool, I won't be crafting. And I hate that. It's relaxing for me. Instead I'll just be melting into a pool and passing out into sleep. :)

Now I *know* we need another CHAMPS get together... it's cool for those!
