Fall Swap Questionnaire

Registration for the "Fall Into Autumn" exchange will open on September 1st and close September 8th at Midnight, EDT.

There is a button down on the lower right hand section that currently doen't show the picture but if you click, it does bring you to the page. If I can ever figure out how to get the picture to show up, I'll fix it. :)

1. Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been doing it?

I knit *and* crochet. Er, well, considering I'll be 51 in October and I've been doing one or the other since I first learned at age 8, that makes it (I'm fainting here!) 43 year this fall!

2. Have you made dischloths before? Do you use them yourself, give them as gifts, or both?

All I do is make dishcloths! I am ADDICTED! I use them *and* give them and my mother gets all of my "experiments" with new patterns to enjoy.

3. What's your favorite cotton to make cloths from? What cotton would you like to try that you haven't before?

I love the standard Sugar & Creme. I've tried a few others but that's really my favorite. I've used KnitPicks Crayon (didn't care much for it) and Cotlin (loved it!!) so I would love to try new shades of that.

4. If you knit, do you prefer circular or straight needles? For all, do you prefer wooden, metal, or plastic needles?

I prefer straight bamboo but for some patterns, sad to say, I just need to revert to what I learned on - metal.

5. What are your favorite colors? Any colors you don't like much?

I absolutely LOVE pink! Also light purple, light blue and rose. I don't like greens or reds. I am learning to like orange.

6. What do you like best about Autumn?

Every October I take vacation and go back east to spend time with my mother and to celebrate my twin brother's and my birthday. The foliage there can bring tears to my eyes.

7. Pies: Pumpkin? Apple? Pecan? All of em? or No Thanks!

ALL but please, oh please, pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin!

8. When you were a kid, were you the one who couldn't wait to get started with school , or the one who overslept on the 1st day?

Couldn't wait to get started. Probably why I initially went to college and got a teaching degree. Probably also why I am now a probate paralegal. :)

9. Do you celebrate Halloween? (The real key here guys is especially knowing if you have an aversion to the holiday or little goodies/decorations associated with it, given the timeframe of the swap)

Yes, I have always enjoyed Halloween!

10. If you had to choose just 3 edible 'goodies' to eat for a full year, what 3 would you choose?

Reese's Peanutbutter Cups, Hershey's Milk Chocolate (bars) and craisins

11. Do you have any pets? Kids? Husbands who seem like kids? ;)

No pets. Kids are all grown. My daughter is married and just had her first son (my first grandchild!!!) named Matthew on December 24, 2006. No husband (2 ex's!), no boyfriend, probably not ever again. (With age comes wisdom to finally stop repeating our mistakes.)

12. If you were to describe a particular yarn that shares traits of your personality, what would it be and why?

Knitpicks Ambrosia (lilaccolor - wish they had it in pink!). It's 80% baby alpaca and 20% cashmere. It is incredibly soft and delicate yet durable and can always be counted on to make a beautiful product.

13. Do you use your cloths mostly for dishcloths, or as facecloths?

Hm... dishcloths. If it's a special kind of cotton (like Cotlin) then it's a facecloth. I have one pink washcloth in Cotlin that just keeps getting softer with use. Gotta love that!

14. Favorite Fall Holiday: Halloween or Thanksgiving and why? (Feel free to share another fall memory if you do not celebrate either of these holidays)

It's not a holiday. My favorite fall event is my birthday. I do celebrate both. I love Thanksgiving because itmeans I can finally start watching, "Rudloph the Red Nosed Reindeer" every single day. At least once a day.

15. Do you have any allergies or aversions your pal should know about?

OK, here is the one BIG thing - I absolutely detest anything vanilla scented. Can't stand it. No allergies. I am a diabetic, though, so sugar-free goodies WITH taste are appreciated. Oh yeah... please, no toffee or caramel chewy kind of thing. And no tea. Just don't care for it. Anything else, please feel free to ASK ME! I promise you I don't bite!!
