Kristen's Doily

Here's the doily I made for Jo to give Kristen for her 30th birthday which is this Friday.

I call this my "wingy thingy" doily although I know it has a real name. It is worked with crochet thread (this was Victory Red Mexicana) and getting enough to finish this was a task in itself! Anyway, it is worked in one big piece with the left and right "wings" added afterwards. I had finished the main piece and one side when I ran out of thread. It took 2 weeks to get it but it was worth it. It was done on time.

I have something to cast on for knitting, two doilies I'm working on (or is it 3? I forget!) and at some point I am going to rip out the ribbing on my first sock and start again. Or maybe get some good worsted weight (recommendations, please!) and a pattern for worsted weight socks. Maybe I should start with that. Who knows.

Anyway, Kristen's doily is one of my favorite patterns. For those of you wondering, I crochet pretty quickly but it took me between 12 and 15 hours to finish it. Jo asked me to estimate and I said 12 but the more I think about it, it probably *was* closer to 15. Must be why I haven't made one in a while. :)
