Thankful

My friend Kaylee posted up what she is thankful for and although I talk about how blessed I am on my "regular" blog, I don't do it here very often. Yes, I am truly blessed with family and friends who care for me. Sure, my health could be a lot better. But I got up breathing this morning, could walk and see and hear (well, as well as I ever can which those of you who know me know that isn't great). In a month I will get to go spend the Christmas holiday and Matt's first birthday and Ally and Sean's third anniversary with them. And not for just the weekend either! I arrive Friday and don't leave until Wednesday night! I will be thankful every moment for being there.

I'm not going to use her name because it'll be embarassing enough when she reads this but I have one crafty friend that just amazes me and I am so thankful to know her! I do not know how she manages to do all that she does! She works full time, has a husband, two grown children, a different career outside of her job, spins, knits, occasionally used to crochet and she is just the most amazingly upbeat and happy and friendly lady! She makes absolutely GORGEOUS things from purses to socks to sweaters to baby afghans to the most adorable and desireable little knit thong underwear I have ever seen. My fellow crafters and friends now know who I mean if they had any doubt. hehehe

I am really lucky to call this lady a friend. I do not know how she does all she does except that I think she has hidden arms and never sleeps. And great organizational and motivational skills. I am thankful to be able to call her a friend.

I have a couple of non-crafty friends that I'm pretty darn thankful for, too. Well, truly I am thankful for all of my friends but most especially one who I am having dinner with tonight.

I am thankful for having the skill to knit and crochet and make pretty and useful things. There is a little boy in New Hampshire who is probably already using his wool scarf since it's been in the 20's there already. There are people out there wearing slipper socks to keep their feet warm. Six pair went out last year at Christmas. All of these were fun to make and, often, challening. But learning new things is something I am thankful for, too.

I am thankful all year around for all that I have including my crafty skills. So while I am not ranting this morning, not really, I just want to remind those reading this post that we all have many blessings to be thankful for, all the time.

I try to never take for granted anything. My knitting and crocheting keep my arthritis from raging out of control. So as I pick up my needles or hook, I always say a little prayer of thanks. I'm crafty and I rant. Just no ranting today - only thanks. For everything. Always.
